In an emotional trial hearing, Megan Thee Stallion
expressed her "horror" at fellow rapper Tory Lanez allegedly shooting
at her.
She said in front of a jury in Los Angeles, "I
can't believe I have to come here and do this."
The Grammy-winning rapper said that after leaving a
pool party at Kylie Jenner's house, she was shot in the foot.
Jurors were informed that before the accused opened
fire with five shots, she insulted him and asked to be allowed out of a luxury
automobile.
The 27-year-old rapper, whose actual name is Megan
Pete, said that her accused assailant grew upset as a result of her criticism
of his musical ability.
In the incident in the Hollywood Hills on July 12,
2020, the woman said the 30-year-old defendant, whose true name is Daystar
Peterson, had instructed her to "dance" before firing.
In connection with a conflict with the Savage
artist, he denies various assault and firearms accusations. He may spend up to
23 years in jail if proven guilty.
"I'm stunned. I'm afraid. I can't believe he's
shooting at me when I hear the pistol go off "On Tuesday, the second day
of the trial, she reportedly told the judge.
She broke down in tears while testifying and
expressed sorrow for ever coming out about the event.
She told the court, "I wish he would have just
shot and murdered me if I know I was going to have to go through this
torment."
Before leaving the area again and getting back into
the car, which was eventually halted by police, the WAP rapper left a trail of
blood behind.
In his opening statement, prosecutor Alexander Bott
claimed that a pistol that was still warm to the touch had been discovered on
the floor close to where Mr. Peterson had been seated.
He claimed to be on probation for a firearms
offence, according to Megan Thee Stallion, who testified that the Canadian
hip-hop singer had made her an offer of $1 million to stay silent about the
incident.
She originally claimed to have cut her foot on glass
when speaking with authorities.
However, she claimed to the court on Tuesday that
she had lied because she was worried about how the police would respond,
particularly during the summer of 2020's countrywide racial justice upheaval.
She explained in court that she worried that if she
reported a guy had just shot her, they may fire first and ask questions later
because police brutality was at its height at the time.
A female acquaintance who was in the car emailed
Megan Thee Stallion's security team shortly after the shooting to say:
"Help... Tory shot meg."
She told the investigating authorities that she had
trouble walking in some shoes despite the fact that she had some of the gunshot
pieces removed from her feet.
Prosecutors alleged that Mr. Peterson
"profusely apologized for his crimes" in a phone conversation and
claimed he was "simply too inebriated."
George Mgdesyan, his attorney, urged the jurors to
retain an open mind and promised to show the claims to be untrue.
